The common pre-admission forms are available now. The last day for the sale and submission of the forms is June18. The first cut-off list will be announced on the June 26, and the students are scared of a repeat of last year’s incredibly high cut-offs.
Nearly 7,500 candidates who tried to submit their application forms for admission to Delhi University online were in for a shock on Monday. Having filled up the centralized OMR forms, they realized that the process would be completed only if they sent a demand draft of Rs 100 each via snail mail to the university.
Alternatively, they will have to personally deliver the draft at the office of the dean, students’ welfare.
Though the application process for undergraduate courses began on Monday, DU officials said an online payment gateway was still not ready as the bank needed more time to set it up. The gateway will be available only after June 8.
J M Khurana, dean, students’ welfare, said, “A form can be submitted only after an applicant enters the demand draft number.” He added that it is a normal process wherein a candidate applies online but pays over the counter.
Delhi University has sold about 48,000 forms yesterday as admissions to the class of 2012-13 began on Monday. According to a report in The Hindu, most of the forms were sold at post-offices with only about 18,000 being sold from the 10 colleges and university centres.
The forms that come along with an information bulletin cost Rs 100 and will be on sale till June, 18 across 10 head post offices and colleges and university centres.
Students can fill and submit their completed forms in post-offices from 10am to 4 pm and in Delhi colleges from 10 am to 1 pm.
According to the university’s website, the first cut-off list should be out on June 26 at 9am and the selected students can pay their fees till June 28, 1pm. (For evening colleges the timing for depositing fees is between 4pm and 7pm.)
The second cut-off list will be out on June 28 at 9am, third on July 3, fourth on July 6 and fifth on July 10.
The admission process is for about 54,00 seats across 70 colleges affiliated to DU. According to one estimate, about 125,000 students had applied for admission to different courses offered by the university for the academic year 2011-12.
