There has been a car bomb blast near Prime Minister’s residence, Aurangazeb Road, New Delhi. The explosion is said to have occurred late in the afternoon in the car that belongs to an Israeli diplomat. It has been speculated that the diplomat who used the car could be the focus of attack. Following the attack, embassies have been put on high alert.

A lady, the diplomat’s wife who was inside the car, has been injured. She has been rushed to the hospital. A total of 3 people have been injured in the blast, though no casualties have been reported yet. Police have not ruled out terror attack.

The forensic team that has rushed to the site has stated that explosives have been used. The car which belonged to the Israeli embassy has been badly damaged, with it rear door ripped off.

”We are looking into the incident and cooperation with local security forces is excellent,” said Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor. The officials refrained from disclosing further details, citing that the matter was related to security issues.

”They are in the hospital and being tended to,” said spokesperson for Foreign Ministry of India, Syed Akbaruddin, referring to the diplomat’s wife and 2 others who were injured.
